Death in Cyberspace
Lost my first facebook friend today, Ralph Emerson McGill Jr. We never met in person but would argue politics and sports like we knew each other for years. Strange to pass through the "wall" between cyberspace and reality. Stranger still to find our old posts on facebook still alive, the way conversations are supposed to drift, drift into outer space forever. Ralph's father was editor of the Atlanta Constitution, a clear voice of reason in the tumultous civil rights era. When I first moved to Atlanta, I lived on Ralph McGill Blvd, and didn't know who the man was.
