I've not posted on this blog since the fall of 2010, the time my son Thomas quit Hamilton College six weeks from graduation and on track to medical school. Quit and joined the infantry. He was immediately deployed to Iraq. I've held my breath for the last year-and-a-half. At the same time, my close friend, Bruno Rubeo, whom I knew from our poverty days in South Brooklyn and who went on to become an Academy Award-nominated designer in Hollywood, developed prostate cancer.
These two events and their outcomes have shaped my life in the last years. I plan to write about them in Gowanus Crossing.
